Love Is Blind: Sweden documents a dating experiment in which a group of singles attempt to form committed relationships without initially seeing each other. At the start of the experiment, the participants enter a controlled dating environment where interactions take place inside separate rooms known as pods. In this setting, two people can talk freely while remaining visually separated by a wall. Over several days, the contestants meet a number of potential partners through these conversations and gradually develop stronger connections with certain individuals.
If two participants feel that their relationship has developed into a serious commitment, they may decide to become engaged during the pod phase. The proposal therefore occurs before the partners have met in person. Once the engagement is accepted, the couple finally sees each other face to face for the first time.
After this moment, the couples continue the experiment outside the pod environment. They begin spending time together and experience their relationship in everyday situations. This stage allows them to determine whether the emotional connection formed through conversation also exists when they interact in person.
The participants later return to their regular lives, where the relationships are tested under more realistic conditions. The engaged couples move in together, meet each other’s families and friends, and begin preparing for potential weddings. Differences in lifestyle, expectations and personal habits often become more noticeable during this period.
The season concludes with wedding ceremonies that require each couple to make a final decision. At the altar, the participants individually choose whether to marry their partner or to end the relationship. The outcome reveals whether a relationship that began without visual impressions can continue beyond the controlled conditions of the experiment.
