Love Is Blind: Sweden is built around a social experiment that challenges conventional dating habits. Instead of meeting face to face, a group of single participants attempt to form relationships while physical appearance is completely removed from the initial stage of the process.
At the start of the program, the contestants communicate in separate rooms that are connected only by audio. These spaces, known as pods, allow two people to talk without seeing one another. Each participant speaks with several potential partners and gradually focuses on those conversations that create the strongest emotional connection.
When two people decide that their relationship has developed far enough, they can choose to become engaged. The proposal can occur while the couple is still divided by the wall of the pod. As a result, the decision to pursue marriage is made before the partners have ever met in person.
After the engagement, the couples finally see each other for the first time. The experiment then moves into a new phase in which they spend time together outside the pod environment. This period allows them to interact normally and to discover how their relationship changes once visual attraction and physical presence become part of the dynamic.
