Nigel Ng is a Malaysian-Chinese stand-up comedian and internet personality. He is known by the stage name Uncle Roger. As Uncle Roger, Nigel personifies a middle-aged Asian man who watches and judges various chefs preparing Asian dishes in an exaggerated accent and stereotypical manner.

Nigel Ng was born on March 15, 1991 in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. His full name is Nigel Ng Kin-ju, he is 32 years old. His father is a car salesman and his mother is a housewife. Nigel Ng now lives in London.
Until 2009, Nigel Ng attended Chong Hwa Independent High School. After graduation, he moved to the United States to study engineering and philosophy at the private Northwestern University in the American state of Illinois. Nigel Ng graduated from the university in 2014.
From 2015 to 2019, Nigel Ng participated in several comedy competitions, where he often made it to the final round. The attention he received as a result was followed by appearances on the British comedy show „Stand Up Central“. Nigel is good friends with comedian Evelyn Mok.

Nigel Ng is known for his impersonation of Uncle Roger, a fictional character composed of Asian stereotypes. As Uncle Roger, Nigel Ng has produced TikTok videos, YouTube videos, as well as Instagram sketches. He is particularly known for his recipe videos, in which he evaluates and critiques the preparation of various Asian fried rice dishes by well-known chefs such as Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay.
These videos have earned him a large following; his TikTok profile has more than 10 million followers and his YouTube channel has nearly 8 million subscribers.
Nigel Ng: criticism, problems with Chinese government
The stereotypical Asian accent with which Nigel NG speaks as Uncle Roger has already been criticized several times. Nigel himself does not feel his role is racist, as it is based on his real-life uncles.
Since May 2023, Nigel Ng’s social media channels cannot be accessed in China because the Chinese government believes his videos falsely criticize China.
